homemade popcorn

what you need:

corn kernels (available at ralphs or vons, just get the cheapest ones, no need for Orville to come here), 1/4 cup dry

1 tablespoon corn oil

1 brown lunch bag

a microwave

salt, seasonings to taste (plus one serving/mixing bowl)

—-

place corn kernels inside paper bag.

add corn oil. shake around to mix well.

put inside microwave (i usually put it on a small plate to keep the microwave from getting greasy)

set on high for 2 minutes, stand back and watch the popping.

when done, carefully remove bag from microwave (it’s pretty hot). pour into bowl and mix with salt and seasonings.

i like to do salt and sugar, myself. tastes like kettle corn and is way cheaper to make.

i guess it depends on the microwave, but elsewhere on the internet it says to put it on high for 3 minutes. this burned my first batch of popcorn.

also, corn oil > olive oil for this task. we don’t need stuff that fancy round these parts.
