gingerhaze:

Oh, I know I have it better than a lot of would-be comics buyers, and that’s what worries me. I’ve had it with the self-appointed gatekeepers in comics.

very much so.

Rockefeller Post-mortem

link to ravelry page: http://ravel.me/kation/gb6ck

total number of stitches:
Clue 1: 7773 sts (w/o slips), 660 slips, 8433 stitches (w/ slips)
Clue 2: 13445 sts (w/o slips), 59 slips, 13504 stitches (w/ slips)
Clue 3: 8256 sts (w/o slips), 1724 slips, 9980 stitches (w/ slips)
Clue 4: 26178 sts (w/o slips), 1782 slips, 27960 stitches (w/ slips)
Totals: 55652 sts (w/o slips), 4225 slips, 59877 stitches (w/ slips)

yards: 627.6+570.2 = 1197.8 yds total. (makes sense because I used US 4 needles when the pattern calls for US 3)

$ cost: $40.65 worth of yarn used ($45 worth purchased)
yards leftover: 128.2 yds

Yarn critique: Quince & Co Finch was a delight to work with! soft and bouncy, I looked forward to knitting this project every day I was working on it… which is probably why I churned this monster out in 11 days. (What! I thought it was 2 weeks. I just shocked myself.) I definitely recommend it! (I did find a knot in one skein but it was easy enough to felt-join it back together.)

Pattern critique: The pattern is a Mystery KAL and so the pattern is given out in clues. These are well-written and fun to work on. I am more of a chart person so I did feel a bit deprived of the visual aspect, but it was fun to just trust the pattern writer for once.

Not sure I would knit it again (seeing as i already have one of these) but maybe as a present for a very deserving friend. It definitely was fun, and if I had to knit it again I would definitely make some modifications for fun, especially on the garter stripe wings.

i did a #stripsearch #elimcomic for elimination #6.
it can also be found here: http://squirrelmuffins.com/180
basically what that entails is you watch the episode. then when they say 3, 2, 1, ART! … you pause it. give yourself 90 minutes, and draw.i finished mine with 30 seconds to spare (after resizing and uploading to squirrel muffins!) so i feel good about it. jesus was it hard to come up with something once that clock started ticking.

anyhow i don’t think it was all that great but it was definitely good practice. fun times and i’ll probably keep doing these.
